Fibre
Our organic cotton is grown in India, Turkey and Kyrgyzstan. The cotton is certified by Organic Cotton Standard which ensures that it has been grown solely on organic farms that take care of the soil, ecosystem and people by relying on biodiversity and local natural cycles.
Our hemp fibres come from France and China. Similar in character to linen, hemp is exceptionally strong and naturally softens with washing, developing a beautifully relaxed handle over time. It is naturally breathable, moisture-absorbent and its insulating qualities help to keep you cool in summer and warm in winter. Often referred to as a ‘super fibre’, hemp is a fast-growing and efficient crop that requires minimal water, fertilisers and pesticides to grow.
The final element in this natural blend is a small amount of yak wool, which adds an extra layer of warmth and softness. Our fine yak fibres come from Qinghai Province, China, where yaks are raised in the high-altitude landscapes more than 3,000 metres above sea level. The fineness and softness of yak fibre are comparable to the exceptional quality of cashmere.
Fabric
Corduroy is made by weaving extra sets of fibres into the base fabric to form vertical piles, creating a soft and versatile fabric with its distinctive ridged texture. Corduroy has a long history: first created in ancient Egypt, later adapted by the British monarchy and rediscovered by 1970s bohemians, it remains one of the most loved natural autumn/winter fabrics. Once the fabric has been woven, cut and sewn into garments, each piece is washed to enhance its softness and create a more relaxed, casual appearance. The fabric will continue to soften beautifully with every wash.
Factory
The yarn, fabric and garments are all made by our supplier based in Rushan, to the north of Shanghai. The garment factory is powered by solar panels and focuses on producing environmentally-friendly clothing using hemp. We are proud to have worked with this supplier and their team for more than ten years.
