Our mid-wale hemp, organic cotton, and Yak cord has a beautiful drape and a soft handle, perfect for creating a range of Autumn-Winter styles.
Fabrics made from hemp are similar to linen. The hemp fibre is very strong and softens through washing. It is natural, breathable, absorbs moisture and dye easily, has anti-bacterial properties, is an effective insulator keeping you cool in summer and warm in winter, and is fully biodegradable. In environmental terms, hemp is particularly good as it grows very easily, and is resistant to pests. The hemp gives our cord its nice drape.
The cotton is grown in India and certified by Organic Cotton Standard which ensures that it has been grown solely in organic farms that take care of the soil, ecosystem and people by relying on biodiversity and local natural cycles.
The final ingredient in this natural blend is a small amount of Yak wool which adds an extra bit of warmth.
The yarns are woven into corduroy fabric and then cut and sewn into the garments. The garments are washed to give the fabric a softer handle as well as a more casual appearance. The fabric will continue to soften each time you wash it.
The yarn, fabric and garments are all made by our supplier based in Rushan, to the north of Shanghai. The garment factory is powered by solar panels and focuses on producing environmentally-friendly clothing using hemp. We are proud to have worked with this supplier and their team for more than ten years.
