Fibre
The alpacas are responsibly farmed in the Peruvian highlands, where the yarn is also spun and dyed. Thanks to their soft hooves and gentle feeding habits, alpacas have a light impact on the land on which they graze. To ensure the structural stability and durability of the yarn, a polyamide fibre is used. We aim to avoid synthetic fibres in our collections, but include it on this occasion to make sure our garments last without compromising the unique boucle texture. Pima cotton is a premium cotton variety with an exceptionally long fibre length compared with conventional cotton. These extra-long fibres create a yarn with a beautifully smooth, silky feel, while providing exceptional strength and durability. Our Pima cotton is grown in Peru.
Fabric
The combination of Pima cotton and alpaca fibres creates beautifully cosy knitwear that combines the natural drape and smooth softness of cotton with the exceptional warmth and distinctive character of alpaca. The fibres are top dyed before being spun into yarn, a process that creates beautiful mélange colours with depth and a soft hand feel. Each panel is knitted to the shape of the garment, reducing yarn waste. The panels and trims are then attached using a hand-linking machine, resulting in a beautifully finished, premium quality garment.

One of our newest knitwear suppliers is located in Peru. We chose to work with them because of their excellent skills, drawn from centuries of tradition using materials such as alpaca, cotton and wool, all of which are available locally.
